The AI Boom Will Pull Back, Warns Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler

Source: Bloomberg Tech · OCT 27, 2026

Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler says history suggests today’s AI investment boom will not continue indefinitely. He's expecting some form of slowdown or reversal within the next 18 to 30 months, and says mounting debt could determine how disruptive that correction becomes. Gensler also weighs in on interest rates, monetary policy, financial stability, and the possibility that the U.S. has overbuilt AI infrastructure. Gensler, now Professor of the Practice of Global Economics and Management at MIT's Sloan School of Management, speaks with Bloomberg Surveillance hosts Tom Keene and Paul Sweeney.
